During college, anxiety became an unwelcome companion in my life. I constantly found myself overthinking everything—whether people liked me, if I fit in, if I was on the right path, or if I had made the wrong choices. I worried about how I dressed, how I came across, and how people perceived me. It felt like I couldn’t escape the whirlwind of thoughts that kept spinning in my mind. The more I tried to control it, the worse it became, leaving me feeling stuck in a cycle of stress and self-doubt.

If you’ve ever experienced this, you know how exhausting it is. It feels like you're drowning in your own mind, and no matter what you do, it just won’t stop. I was at that point—lost in my thoughts, feeling like my anxiety was taking over my life.

One day, I wondered: What if I could train my mind to think differently? What if I surrounded myself with positive reminders, could I shift my perspective? I decided to try something simple. For an entire month, I wrote small, positive affirmations on my wrist every day. “One day at a time.” “Everything will be okay.” “You can do this.” “Keep your head up.”

At first, it felt like a tiny drop in an ocean of anxiety, but within a week, something started to shift. Every time I looked at my wrist, those words reminded me to breathe, to take things one step at a time. Slowly but surely, my mind began to adapt to this new, positive mindset. The more I saw those words, the more I believed them. My anxiety started to quiet down, and for the first time in a long time, I felt like I had a way to control it.

That small practice changed my life, but it also made me realize something bigger: What if others could benefit from this, too? What if there was an easier way to bring those positive reminders into people’s everyday lives, especially for those who might be dealing with the same kind of anxiety and stress I had faced?

That’s how the Note to Self collection from HeyYou Project came to life. I wanted to create something that didn’t just offer comfort, but also served as a daily reminder that you are stronger than the anxiety you feel. These hoodies have positive affirmations embroidered on the sleeve—words you can see, touch, and feel throughout the day when the weight of anxiety gets too heavy. It’s a way to remind yourself, even when everything feels overwhelming, that you’ve got this.

Even now, I wear my hoodie often. Every time I look down at my sleeve, I take a moment to pause, breathe, and reassure myself that things will get better. It’s more than just clothing—it’s a reminder that no matter how hard things get, you’re not alone.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed right now, know that I understand. I’ve been there, and I know how isolating anxiety can feel. But I want you to remember this: anxiety doesn’t define you. It’s something you can manage, and you don’t have to go through it alone.

With the HeyYou Project, I hope you find comfort in knowing that someone out there gets it—someone who’s walked that path and come out the other side. It may not happen overnight, but with time, patience, and the right tools, things do get better. So, if you ever need a reminder to keep going, just look at your sleeve. You’ve got this, and I’m rooting for you every step of the way.
